Laura Viera was studying Criminal Justice when she first started doing hair in her home in West Palm Beach, Florida. Before long, clients and friends had solved the mystery of what this talented colorist and stylist should really be doing: hair! “Everyone encouraged me to get licensed, so I went to The Salon Professional Academy and got my cosmetology license,” said Viera.

Mastering schools of hair design including Goldwell and Redken, Laura quickly amassed the skills that would further her career, studying systems including Wella, Kenra and All-Nutrient Natural Hair Care. Before long, she had pinpointed her areas of expertise. “I really liked coloring; it came naturally to me,” said Viera. “I enjoy doing cuts as well, especially bob and pixie cuts, which I am an expert at.”

After working as a colorist and stylist in salons in West Palm Beach, including Odeon Salon in Delray Beach, she opened her own personal studio, Chemistry Hair Studio, in Palm Beach Gardens. For nearly two years, she was her own boss, cultivating a loyal clientele; by 2014, Viera began to crave a new challenge. When she was asked to showcase her talents at the Scissor Salute Show in Long Island, she traveled up north and got a different taste of the Big Apple. She was hooked! She closed up her shop, packed up her scissors, and hit the road.

“Five months later, I moved here,” said Viera. “I loved the possibility of endless achievements that the city could offer.”

“I want to experience every area of the field, from education to runway shows, from TV shoots to films and plays,” she said.
